Any resident of Owasa needing notary services may contact Brittani Nehring.  The service is available free of charge to any resident of the town.  

City Election Information

Anyone wishing to run for mayor or city council can pick up nomination papers from the city clerk or from the Hardin County Court House.  They must be filled out and returned to the county auditor. Please contact Elaine Nehring ( phone 641-939-3174) for any more information or to pick up the nomination papers.  Nominations are open to any resident of Owasa.  

Reminder:  The 2021 City Election will be held on  Tuesday, November 2ed, 2021.  Residents will vote at the Ellsworth Equine Center in Iowa Falls or they can vote absentee at the Hardin County Court House. City and School Elections are now combined.  Contact your county auditor's office for more information

FYE 2022 Budget Hearing

The Owasa City Council will meet on March 9, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Township Hall in Owasa for their regular meeting and the public hearing on proposed 2022 budget.  The public is encouraged to attend.  Please wear masks and observe social distancing if attending.  Attached is the hearing notice and proposed budget.  

Proposed Property Tax Levy Hearing

The Owasa City Council will hold a public hearing  on the proposed tax levy for the fiscal year 2022 on February 9, 2021 at the Jackson Township Hall.  The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and the public is invited to attend.  Attached is a notice of the public hearing.  Any questions may be directed to Elaine Nehring at 641-939-3174.

The City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2021 on March 10, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Township Hall.  Any resident or taxpayer may be present to appeal or protest or present questions. A copy of the budget estimate and notice can be viewed and downloaded on the Agendas and Minutes page or attached to this notice. 

Public Hearing Notice

The Owasa City Council will hold a public hearing regarding the Proposed Property Tax Levy for Fiscal Year Ending 2021 on February 11, 2020.  The meeting will be held at the Jackson Township Hall in Owasa at 7:00 p.m. Any resident or taxpayer may is welcome to attend.  The budget hearing for the Fiscal Year 2021 budget will be held on March 10th. A copy of the hearing notice is attached.

Trick or Treat will be held on Thursday, October 31st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Reminder:  The 2019 City Election will be held on  Tuesday, November 5th, 2019.  Residents will now vote at the Ellsworth Equine Center in Iowa Falls or they can vote absentee at the Hardin County Court House. This is new as City and School Elections are now combined.  This will be a change for Owasa residents as they will no longer vote at the Jackson Township Hall.  Contact your county auditor's office for more information. 

City Clean Up Days

The annual City Clean Up is scheduled for June 15th through June 23rd.  There will be a dumpster located on east Clarendon Street.  This is a good chance to dispose of items and clean up.  Remember to place appliances, electronics and junk metal to the side of the dumpster as it will be picked up separately.  Also items not allowed in the dumpster:  PAINT,  TIRES, BATTERIES OR YARD WASTE.  Please obey the dumpster rules so that we can continue to provide this benefit to the community.

FYE 2020 Budget Hearing
