Notice of Public Hearing

The City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2021 on March 10, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. at the Jackson Township Hall.  Any resident or taxpayer may be present to appeal or protest or present questions. A copy of the budget estimate and notice can be viewed and downloaded on the Agendas and Minutes page or attached to this notice.

The Owasa City Council will hold a public hearing regarding the Proposed Property Tax Levy for Fiscal Year Ending 2021 on February 11, 2020.  The meeting will be held at the Jackson Township Hall in Owasa at 7:00 p.m. Any resident or taxpayer may is welcome to attend.  The budget hearing for the Fiscal Year 2021 budget will be held on March 10th. A copy of the hearing notice is attached.

Trick or Treat

Trick or Treat will be held on Thursday, October 31st from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

City Elections

Anyone wishing to run for mayor or city council can pick up nomination papers from the city clerk or from the Hardin County Court House.  They must be filled out and returned to the county auditor by Thursday  September 19th, 2019.  Please contact Elaine Nehring ( phone 641-939-3174) for any more information or to pick up the nomination papers.  Nominations are open to any resident of Owasa.  

Reminder:  The 2019 City Election will be held on  Tuesday, November 5th, 2019.  Residents will now vote at the Ellsworth Equine Center in Iowa Falls or they can vote absentee at the Hardin County Court House. This is new as City and School Elections are now combined.  This will be a change for Owasa residents as they will no longer vote at the Jackson Township Hall.  Contact your county auditor's office for more information. 

City Clean Up Days

The annual City Clean Up is scheduled for June 15th through June 23rd.  There will be a dumpster located on east Clarendon Street.  This is a good chance to dispose of items and clean up.  Remember to place appliances, electronics and junk metal to the side of the dumpster as it will be picked up separately.  Also items not allowed in the dumpster:  PAINT,  TIRES, BATTERIES OR YARD WASTE.  Please obey the dumpster rules so that we can continue to provide this benefit to the community.

FYE 2020 Budget Hearing

Ordinance 2018-A

Due to the closing of the Innovative Ag Services location in Owasa, the council needed to designate a new posting place for minutes, reports and anything that is required to be posted.  On February 13, 2018 the Owasa City Council approved Ordinance 2018-A which designates the following three places where copies of minutes, budgets, ordinances, reports, or anything else requiring posting will be found:
        Jackson Township Hall
        Owasa Methodist Church
        Owasa City Park.  
If anyone has any questions regarding these notices or where they can be viewed, please give Elaine Nehring a call at 641-939-3174.

2019 Budget Hearing

VOTE !!

City election is Tuesday, November 7th.  Seats up for election are the mayor and three open council seats, two of which will be filled by write in votes.  Please take the time to vote.  You can request an absentee ballot from the County Auditor, vote at the Court House or vote at the Jackson Township Hall on November 7th.  Hours will be from 12:00 noon to 8:00 P.M.

Reminder:  The 2017 City Election will be held on November 7th, 2017.  Residents can vote at the Jackson Township Hall from noon till 8:00 p.m.
